Spotlight

The people who grow our food are drinking its byproduct. Nitrogen runoff from agriculture silently contaminates water supplies, imposing the heaviest health burden on the communities least equipped to escape it. When I met with stakeholders in the water space, they told me the lack of nitrogen data limits more effective nitrogen management. Nitrogen compounds are central to life, yet we are almost flying blind when it comes to nitrogen management and pollution.

How are you innovating to advance preventive medicine?

Clean water is where health begins. Every illness it prevents is a treatment never needed. We secure clean water by closing the information and technology gap in water quality monitoring. Our patented sensor solution provides low-cost, real-time insights for effective nitrogen management, and efficient resource use.

How has Emergence contributed to your work?

The Emergence Accelerator provided comprehensive resources and support. From the fundamentals of building an impact-driven organization, all the way to connecting me to potential investors and mentors. It really accelerated my idea, and the support from the program extends far beyond the conclusion of the program.

How did industry and investor collaborators impact your success?

What sets Emergence apart from other start-up programs is the focus on impact and raising impact-aligned capitals, which is very much needed yet not often addressed. I had very helpful conversations with the industry mentors and grew my network.
