MS, Management, Founder of CircuBat

Joseph Kao

Joseph, an MSx student at Stanford GSB, is dedicated to tackling the biggest challenges of battery wastes for a sustainable future. Growing up in Taiwan that has one of the highest recycling rates in the world, he imbibed the principles of circular economies from a young age. Joseph's recent experience in Apple's zero waste initiative shed light on the complexities of battery and electronic waste management, propelling him to develop sustainable solutions for battery wastes. Prior to MSx, Joseph has over 10 years of hardware R&D and management experience in the chemical and consumer electronics industries. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Berkeley, specializing in polymer nanocomposites for energy storage, and boasts a portfolio of over 10 high-impact journal papers and 6 granted patents.

About CircuBat

CircuBat transforms the future of energy by giving a second life to EV batteries accurately and efficiently. Currently, only 3% of EV batteries are repurposed due to time-consuming, inaccurate testing, obstructing safe repurposing. CircuBat's solution accurately predicts each battery cell's performance, financial value, and safety within minutes. CircuBat empowers recyclers and repurposers to tap into the hidden potential of every used EV battery, vital for a sustainable future.
