BS Civil Engineering, Founder of BloomBox

Sofie Roux

Sofie cares deeply about girls’ access to high quality education in STEAM fields. She’s a sophomore Undergraduate at Stanford studying architecture and engineering, which she hopes to apply to a lifetime in sustainable global development. She loves exploring the intersections of design with energy, public policy and entrepreneurship. Sofie is the founder of BloomBox Design Labs, her public benefit company for girls’ education, which installs solar powered computer labs built out of repurposed shipping containers at high schools in Sub-Saharan Africa. She leads their design and manufacturing in South Africa, Malawi and the US. Her company will be launching the SuperBloom Global Knowledge Network App in March to connect students around the world through short videos about their big questions. In her free time she loves to run, spend time with her family, make art, create playlists for her friends, build structures, and read about business and philosophy.
